A Little About Me

Hi!  My name is Katie Penley.  I am 21 years old. I was born and raised in Virginia (which is where I currently reside). I have also lived in North Carolina. I live with my boyfriend, Robert, and our puppy, Bella. She is a very cute lab mix that is almost a year old. She is my spoiled rotten baby girl! My boyfriend and I have an interesting story. We were best friends in middle school, inseparable. I moved my out of state and we kind of lost touch. We would talk at least once or twice a year though. When I moved back to Virginia we got back in contact and picked up like we had never missed a beat. I say that is what you consider meant to be.

I am working on my Bachelor’s in Graphic Design. I am a very busy girl – very determined as well.  I graduated with my Associate in Arts May 2010.  Originally I had planned to go to school to become an ultrasound tech, but due to two wrecks that I was in the end of 2009, I had to choose another field. I am a strong believer that everything happens for a reason, so despite all of the hardship I have faced and still am facing due to those wrecks, I am on the right path for my life. I started with AiO in November of 2010.

I have always enjoyed doing anything that allowed me to be creative, so I decided to go into graphic design.  Some of the creative things I enjoy are drawing, editing pictures in Photoshop, crocheting, cross-stitching, scrapbooking, making jewelry, playing guitar, writing poetry and much more!  When I am doing any of these hobbies, I kind of drift away from life and am in a peaceful state.  I am very passionate about expressing myself and being different and my hobbies help me to do that. Doing creative things like drawing has also been a release for me through the years and has helped me get through some tough times. It has also been a way to express my good times.

My love of crafts started when I was a little girl. My family was very involved in church, so I was always doing crafts there. Also, my mom has always done crafts and has taught me some of the things I know now.

Currently I am working for Advance Auto Parts in sales full-time. In my spare time I do things like crochet, make jewelry, make cards, etc. I recently opened an Etsy store www.CreationsByKT.etsy.com. I am hoping to be able to do some arts and crafts shows soon as well!

This is my first attempt at blogging and I am excited to help others learn about the crafting I do and to learn from my readers as well! I think this will be a fun chapter to add to my life book! :-)
