Sock Monkey

My older brother threw a hint at me a couple of months ago.
He mentioned that he had never had a sock monkey before.
Michael loves monkeys.
So I knew right then that I had to make him a sock monkey for Christmas!
This was going to be my first project ever using my sewing machine!

I got the pattern and pair of socks from my boyfriend's mom,
who is amazing at sewing!

I was so excited to start working on the sock monkey!
After playing around with my sewing machine I felt confident enough to begin the sock monkey!
I was so excited when I got the two legs done!
My first sewing project was coming to life!

I am very pleased with how the sock monkey turned out!

And I must say, I am in love with using my sewing machine!!

Superman Pillow

This year I racked and racked my brain trying to figure out
what to make for my younger brother for Christmas.
After much browsing on Pinterest and through my craft books,
I still didn't have any idea.
I knew that he liked Superman, Cowboys, Tarheels, and frogs.
I couldn't think of anything to do with Cowboys or Tarheels
and I had already made him several frog items.
Finally, between brainstorming with my boyfriend and Mom,
we came up with the idea of a Superman pillow!

Well, I am new to using my sewing machine and don't have a lot of material.
I have quite a bit of felt so I decided to make his pillow out of felt.
And so the process began..

I cut out the diamond shape on yellow then on red.
I hand drew the Superman emblem with maker onto the felt.
I then cut out the emblem out.
I hand used black permanent marker to go around the edges of the logo and add depth.
I used black embroidery hread to hand sew the logo.
I used yellow to hand sew the logo onto the blue of the pillow.
I then used my sewing machine to sew the pillow together and then stuffed!

I love the way it turned out!!

Ornament Swap

I participated in an ornament swap on Facebook this month.
You could make the ornament out of whatever medium you wanted.

My swap partner wasn't picky and said she would be happy with anything.
So I got a paper mache ornament from Michael's that was round in shape.
I decorated it with scrapbook paper, bling, ribbon, chipboard pieces, and stickers!
I did both sides differently so it was like two ornaments in one!

My swap partner sent me the cutest ornaments in return!
She made me feel special by sending my THREE cute ornaments!!

Aren't they just the cutest?!
Thank you!! :)

Did you make any cute ornaments this year?
Feel free to link to your blog posts with your handmade ornaments in the comments!

Christmas Baking

Sunday, I spent the day baking.
Our house was filled with smells of chocolate fudge and sugar cookies.
I think I may have added on a few pounds just from the smell!
Better than any candle!

Fudge getting ready to go into the fridge to chill.

One of many, many batches of sugar cookies!

As much as I wish that I could buy everyone a gift for Christmas, I just cannot.
So instead, I make coworkers, neighbors, and such homemade goodies!
I will be packaging these up soon and passing them out!

What Christmas goodies have you been making?

Kristy -

If you're coming from Cathie's blog, then you're on the right track. If you just happened to stop by my blog today, be sure to head on back to Kristy's blog and hop from the beginning.

My project is one that was inspired from several different ideas I have seen on Pinterest.
I created a mini album book to give to my boyfriend for Christmas.

The Alphabet of our Love

I started out with a chipboard album that I got out of the dollar bins at Michael's.
I took two of the boards out and the ring.
I covered the boards in paper and decorated the cover.

I then traced the board onto the 26 pages I wanted to use for my book.
I cut them out varying between regular scissors and different patterned scissors.
The pages varied in colors from white, to red, to brown, to patterned.

I have a large selection of mix matched alphabet stickers left over from different projects.
I used a wide variety of them to highlight the alphabet letter for each page.

I then used a word that began with that particular letter of the alphabet to base each page around.
I decorated with many different embellishments.. ribbons, tags, stickers, drawings, just to name a few.

A - Always
B - Best friend
C - Care, Cherish
D - Dream
E - Everything
F - Faithful
G - Grateful
H - Happy
I - I love you
J - Joy
K - Knight in shining armor
L - Life
M - My grease Monkey
N - Nobody knows me like you do
O - Optimistic
P - Perfect
Q - Quality time
R - Remember
S - Sweet
T - True love
U - Understanding
V - Very important
W - When we cuddle...
X - XoXo
Y - Years of memories
Z - curling up and catching Zzz's

Now it's time for you to head on over to Vickie at mawmawsthoughts.blogspot.com.

Thank you so much for hopping along with us today, and we all hope that you were filled with loads of Christmas joy, as well as loads of inspiration!

Christmas Cards with a Winter Chill

These pretty Christmas cards were created with a Winter chill in mind.

I had a Christmas paper pad that I had ordered from Oriental Trading several years ago.
I flipped through that, finding paper that would fit my Wintery theme.
Pretty papers of blues and purples did the trick!
Each card has blue ribbon with snowflakes running across it.
A tag was then adhered. Each tag has a white glittery brad.
Each card has either a snowman with rhinestone buttons or a Christmas ornament with a rhinestone and a "Christmas Wishes" sentiment.
Some of the cards are embellished with chipboard snowflakes with bling or with bows.

Cards, such as the ones above, can be found in my Etsy store

Vintage Inspired Christmas Cards

I got some really cute chipboard Christmas reindeer, ornaments, snowmen, and doves from Michael's.
These embellishments inspired me to create some vintage inspired Christmas cards.

I had a Christmas paper pad that I had ordered from Oriental Trading several years ago.
I flipped through that, finding paper that would fit my vintage theme.
I had some country Christmas ribbon that worked well with the look I wanted.
I ran the ribbon across each of my cards.
I then used vintage like tags and tied a bow on them with twine.
I then adhered the chipboard embellishments to the tags.
Pretty red Christmas flowers with gold brads add a little extra "pop".
Each card features a Christmas sentiment that are puffy stickers.
I added in a few rhinestones on each card for a little extra bling.

Cards, such as the ones above, can be found in my Etsy store
